also remember, the load difference in dyno vs street. can generally run more timing on the rollers than the street. cranking 29 degree's into it may give the number you want, but to run it on the street would possibly require 100+ octane.

local tuner here (who is very good) usually puts an LSX engine at about 23 degrees with a stock cam. Add a cam and thats bumped to 27. On my truck with the right IAT's i've logged upwards of 31 degrees. That's using my commanded 27 and it configuring the rest using stock timing table.
IIRC there is usually a really good gain up to 27 on most trucks.

however, that's on an LSX engine and wouldn't really compare to a Vortec 454. From what I googled 22 degrees is the stock max timing from the factory and then when pe mode hits its supposed to add 4 more degrees.
With a cam I'd imagine you want to advance it some but you'd want to run higher octane fuel if you do. Did you tell W4M that you had a cam?

oh yes i told wait4me everything. Im confident that it will show gains up to 30-32 degrees once i get it on the dyno with the new cam. Taking into consideration the bigger bore, more overlap, and the not as efficient heads as the lsx motors. i run 93 octain and a 160 degree thermostat

Yes, the more efficient your combo, the less timing you'll need to make power.
