Wtf... Lm7, Lq4???
ok... now i am really corn-fused. i had always thought my 2000 5.3 was an lq4. read an article in PHR for a rocker and pushrod install and they called it a lm7 (however, it was done on a 04) so... what the H$%@ do i have? what is the difference in the two. LQ4 should have 101mm bores and the LM7 has like 90 something right? correct me please.

It is indeed a LM7. The LQ4 is the 6.0 they put in 3/4 ton trucks(lower compression than the LQ9). LQ9 is the 6.0 put is the SS, some Escalades and the VHO(10:1 compression).

G80 is the locker in the rear end. Nothing to do with the tranny. The 4l80e tranny is the tranny to have. It comes in 3/4 ton trucks with the LQ4 motor. 4l60e trannies break under just about any significant horsepower.
