Default WTF is with this thermostat?

I got my Predator and a "Hypertech" 180 thermostat from Tbyrne Motorsports.

I just recently installed the thermostat (cuz the next day I went to Famoso), it is a bitch to install, and found that it seems to be the STOCK temperature.

Some guy at Tbyrne said that my guage is inaccurate. Every other one of my families vehicles that we've installed thermostats on, 1999 Escalade, 2001 Silverado, 1995 Silverado, 1965 Mustang, 1992 Silverado, 1994 Silverado, has read a change in the temperature of the coolant.

WTF is up with this?

your factory gauge is not correct - problem with 03's and newer....
it will read - just a tick under 210
I had the same prob
I put a 180 F and same results
I ended up putting in an elec gauge
Mine reads 180 F / 185 F going down the road
Shoots up in traffic....

If you do put in a gauge
There is a special adapter for the heads for the gauge

I don't know, I put a 160 in mine, and my temps went from 210 to 180, and never goes any higher!

My temps didn't really decrease much with just a 160* thermo, they came down more with the 34" core radiator.

Oh and stock gauges aren't too accurate.

The 160* mark on the stock gauge is actually 100*. If you scale it like that, it is actually accurate. That mid mark between 160 and 210 is about 175 give or take a little.

I had the 160* stat in my old truck and the temps would always come up to 190-210. Same stat in the new truck plus a 34" radiator and the temps never get above 180*.

I'm inclined to believe you guys, but these older vehicles have registered changes once their thermostats were changed out. How can a newer vehicle have such an inaccurate thermostat?

And its not like I'm complaining that there isn't enough difference between the thermostats. There is -no- difference. My guage reads right between 210 and the previous small tickmark, right where it did before I swapped the thermostat.

Also, this "Hypertech" thermostat says its made by a MotoRad of Germany. There are NO temperatures or numbers of any kind engraved on the thermostat. Does that sound right to you guys?

I spoke with the dealer, Hypertech, and another master tech
For some reason the pre 03 trucks - their gauges are temp sensitive.
the 03 and newer are not - when it reaches op temp
the gauge stays at just under 210
When I put in my auto meter gauge - it reacts instantly to temp
changes.
I can let it warm to 195 plus - give it some revs and watch the temps
react.....

The 34" rad makes difference ? - bolt it ? I have seen that it prev threads.
I remember someone saying Radiator Barn ??
