Default XR-1 vs. Aerochamber

I've got it down to these two mufflers. Not sure which length on the XR-1 just yet, but it's the oval case, and both mufflers will be 3" in/out.

I'm going with a split rear setup, with 45 degree turndowns just before the rear bumper.

Just lookin' for some opinions here. I want an aggressive tone without the drone. Some say the aerochamber is too quiet with cats and stock manifolds. Future plans include LT headers and high flow cats, but that will be way down the road before it happens.

As always, thanks for the suggestions.

Get the 12" oval!! I had one on my 99 and it sounded great!! It had a bit of drone but still sounded killer. I wanted so bad to ditch the cats and see how it sounded. But I never got the chance.

I have dual 12" ovals - see link

Would you recommend using a resonator before the muff? How did it sound at cruise speeds (60-80)? Yours was a single cab...so I'd imagine it wouldn't drone as much on my X-Cab if I place it back far enough...just a guess. I've heard your sound clips...and that's what got me interested in the XR-1 in the first place.

That's 2 votes for Borla.

Anyone else?

I know it is a diff motor. But i have an XR-1 on my 99 Z-28 and couldn't be happier. Long tubes with no cats. I want to get some for my truck but money has been tight so haven't been able to get them yet. True duals i can only imagine would sound great

I said hell with it and bought a Corsa Sport split rear system. I've only been wanting the system for about 5 years now, so I splurged. I'm working some mad OT hours right now anyway.

I appreciate the responses though. Might convince my younger bro to be the guinea pig and put the XR-1 or the Aero on his '03 5.3L.
