You don't need the LS2 gears, the only difference is the LS2 one has a cam position sensor. All you need is the chain.

Put my cam in at 135k miles and i have 151k miles now... still has the stock timing chain. The heads are off and getting some nice cnc heads and the lifters still looked pretty good when i looked at all of them. I beat the hell out of my truck but i take care of the engine... every 3k miles the oil is changed with full synthetic. Its an 03.

I know you have a lot more miles but if your engine is taken care of you should be fine. For that much miles i agree with changing the timing chain though.

already talked with him, he is my go to guy anyways, but he said he wont attempt to mess with it, cant fault him, he does good work on my truck, wish he tuned too

Hahaha, my bad! I'm doing a cam swap soon too and have been doing a lot of reading about what does and probably doesn't need to be changed (trying to keep it budget). SDPC has a good Iwis chain for around $45 I think I am going with.
