Default yea yea, yet another injector question

i am trying to find some 36 or 42lb injectors for my truck. i have some nice info that i got from various sorcues, mainly y2khawk.

my 99 5.3 came with 21lb injectors
not sure about newer 5.3's
some 6.0(mabey all) came with 25lb
8.1's came with 30lb
5.3 'flex fuel' came with 33lb

all of these injectors are direct bolt in/plug in for our trucks.

now for my problem, i need 36lb injectors right now, i think i will need 42lb injectors if i keep trying to make this thing faster. a place called RC engenering says they can make me a set for $640. i will do that if i have to but before i do i want to make sure there isn't a cheeper sorce, any ides?

bigtex? i know you allready told me that the car injectors wont fit, can you elaborate? if it is just the conector than i can fix that, are the ends smaller or bigger? i can get a set of 30lb(36lb for us)svo injectors for $200 and want to make sure that they wont fit before i blow $640 on a custom set.

I just looked yesterday on my Dad's truck. I just looked to confirm that the injectors were a different type.

I'll look tomorrow and see if car injectors will interfere in anyway. I remember thinking that it might be tight to fit a car injector in there but, I didn't really check it out. If there is something that looks like it'll be a problem I'll snap a pic and send it to you.

TTT i am dying here, this thing is so close to being fast, does anyone have some info for me?

could someone send me a closeup picture of a truck injector and a pic of a car injector? if there is an obvious diference then i can forget about the car injectors and start working on the custom injectors.

I have 16 OE 99+ truck injectors in my room and 8 OE 00+ F-body injectors and 16 93-98 OE F-body injectors.

The 99+ truck injectors ahve the smallest of all bodies by comparason and they also use a different plug. The 85-98 f-body uses the same style plug as the 99+ f-body but the physical size is different. SVO injectors are interchangable in the F-cars of all years and the truck are interchangable from 99+ SBC to BBC but no car injector will swap with truck.

oxidizer.. i just looked at my truck and it looks like there is pleanty of room for a larger body and i am not worried about the conector, i am sure i coudl find some pigtails to splice into my harness.

can you tell me how the length and diamiter of the ends compare? what about where the truck injectors clip to the fuel rails, is that part of the injector the same?

some more info to add that maybe someone could confirm. from the '5.3 flex fuel' post it looks like the flex fuel motor runs at a lower 40psi of fuel presure. i have been told that the injector flow rate from the factory programing is 4.1gm/sec. if that is at 40psi than the injector is alot bigger than it seems

can someone check my math/formulas, am i doing the gm/sec to lb/hr right?

4.1gm/sec = 32.65lb/hr(at40psi i hope)
convert that to 59psi and you have 39.66lb/hr

sounds like this might just be what i have been looking for

i just ordered one 5.3 flex fuel injector.the list price is $100 and it looks like it will cost me between $60-70, ouch! at least they have them avaliable. i am geting too anxious not to try something so i am going to do a test and find out exactly what these things will flow at 59psi, i am hopeing it is 40lb/hr.

i am still not 100% sure that the fbody injectors can't be made to fit. i called a place that says they can make any injector, they started by asking me if i could send them one of mine so they could match something up, so i guess if the flex fuel injector doesn't flow enuff i can send it to them and see if they can match it up to something bigger.
