Default Yes....More 6.0 swap questions

I know the 2000 and prior 6.0's had bad heads and I don't want one of those. What are the differences if any between the 2001-up LQ4 chevy truck & denali motors. On the GM website it shows all the available vehicles with the 6.0 with horsepower ratings between like 295-325 ( excluding the LQ9 ). So are there any differences between the trucks, hummers, denali 6.0 or are the horsepower ratings just varied because of application.
Obviously I would want to get the most horsepower out of a swap (i.e. 01-02 denali motor 325hp) but could I settle for a chevy truck motor(300hp) and get an identical motor? Thanks for your help.

BTW..This is for a blower application, so I exclude the LQ9.

i am 95% sure all the 6.0's are the same. the diferent ratings are just a marketing game.

I was betting you would be the man with the answer. Which one did you have in your truck? On a side note, how are your new plans coming along?

it was a 2002 denali motor rated at 320hp but like you i tried doing some research to findout where the extra 20hp comes from and i think it is just a matter of rating it at a higher rpm is all.

plans are still just plans, still regrouping finicialy. thinking twin t63's, built 408, 300shot DP . now for the hard question, do it all in a 2500 or get a rcsb 4wd and swap out a bunch of 2500 stuff?

I think you will always wish you had less weight throughout the whole thing. rcsb with 2500 internals, worth it in the long run.....just my 2cents. Good lick and thanks again

the '99-'00 6.0's had iron heads instead of aluminum - supposedly there was no flow difference between the two

I can run side by side a new 2500 all the way to the speed limiter and have more than once - as far as I can tell the iron head and aluminum head motors make the same power

the crank flange on the '99-'00's are thicker and will only mate to a 4L80 so that may be a problem however

I think the truck, and the denali/excalade motors have different compression ratios. I want to say the truck engine it 9:1 or 9.4:1 and the Denali is either 10 or 10.5:1.

I'll try and check my numbers and update if they are off to much.

The 300 and 320 hp (truck, and denali) 6.0 are 9.4:1. The 345 Escalade 6 liter is 10:1.

I would go with the lower CR for a blown engine.

EDIT: My bad .... ignore all that .. I realize after re-reading the original post this is about the 300 and 320 horse engine.

Ooops

Is there any way to tell I am getting the correct motor with flange that will mount to a 4L60E. What is the difference between that and ones that only mount t a 4L80E?

first look for aluminum heads, if it has iron heads it most likely has the wrong crank. then once you see aluminum heads look at the crank flange just to be sure. the one that will work with 4l60e is nearly flush with the block/seal. if it looks like this then you are set.
