Default Yet another intake question.

Two part question.

1.) My Dad wants to get an intake system for his 2004 6.0L 2500HD Silverado. The problem I'm running into is that some places list a system for the 2003-2004 6.0L but say that the HD model is excluded. Is there a difference in design between a regular 3/4 ton and a 3/4 HD. I assume it's only upgraded heavy duty suspension that gives it it's HD specification or does an HD 6.0L have a larger throttle body?

2.) Name some intake suggestions. Right now I'm leaning towards K&N and I see they have a new series of intake kits but the only one for a Silverado is for the SS. Will that fit his HD? He wants to keep the price under $300 so the Volant kit might be out of the question. What are you 6.0L HD guys running? Are the UPD tubes still cracking? Thanks!

My only guess would be if it is an open element like the GenII that has a heat shield that seals aginst the hood, the HD hood may not seal since it is taller???

Should be the same intake as the older models. I have TB from a HD truck that I ported and am running. Its identical with the one that came on my SS. There isn't anything physically different in the engine compartment, so the intakes should work fine.

Kenny, his truck is a 2004. It has the same hood as the non HD model.

I figured they are the same too so I think I'm just going to order the one for the 6.0L and go for it. If there is a difference we'll find out then.

True Flow Part # 10501

this will retain the stock air box and replace the tube.

http://www.trueflow.com/
click on true flow air intakes, then click on products
click on product search and enter make and model
dont know if this is what you want, but just a suggestion.
not that I'm partial cause I have this on my truck
