You think my CAI is a restriction?
Hey guys, i was wondering what u thought of my cai. Its a K&N fipk kit for the 2000 model chevrolets. It been a great kit without any problems. I also relocated the iat sensor closer to the throttle bodie inside the tube. Now, the other day i was out messin with the truck and noticed that the tube outlet diameter is the same size as the inside of my 90/92mm throttle bodie. I am runnin the tbss intake also. Now, do u guys think there is any gain to be had by making my own 4" cai? I checked it out and a 4" pvc inside diameter will fit over the 90mm throttle bodie mouth. I know this has got to help something. What do u all think?

Couldn't hurt to try. I have the stock air box with a K&N filter and then made my own tube out of 4" PVC and a couple rubber couplings and could tell the difference right away when I went for a drive.
It's $40 bucks at Home Depot so not like you would loose much trying it out.

Will get with AKlowriderZ71 once I get my wide band installed and have him really fine tune it for me and see what difference that makes for it

I wasn't able to compare HP numbers on a dyno or anything but I could tell a different in throttle response just by the seat of my pants. I also saw a few MPG increase when using cruise control on the HWY

This was while I was still fitting it up so not all the bands are on and I didn't tap it for the breather hose yet.
Fitting it up / test fitting.
I feel like a noob for not paying closer attention. I drilled the hole for the breather hose and fitting and put it on the wrong side. It should have been on the other side facing the motor. Oh well I was still going to clean it up and make it look prettier once home. Might just redo it and put the hose on the other side. I don't think there is any performance issue or anything with how the hose is now, just looks odd.

2 feet of 4" PVC, a 4" PVC street elbow, two rubber couplings, a couple feet of 1/4" vinyl tubing and a couple 1/4" hose clamps and a fitting to put in place for the breather hose (I have part number written down somewhere.)
I figured there would be a write up on this forum for it but if there is not I can type one up. It really is very simple, took me 20-30 minutes tops and is a noticeable difference. The only thing I had to do different is in all the threads I read they were using 4" rubber couplings for their connections and I have to get a 4" to 3.5" reducer to fit mine. Not sure why mine was a little smaller (you think the 6.2 would have a bigger one than a 4.8 or 5.3).
