Default Yukon Denali XL 6.0 vs Suburban 2500 8.1L?'s

Contemplating a purchase between the Yukon XL Denali 6.0 and Suburban 2500 8.1L. Please give pros and cons for both as the sticker prices are identical and the options are very similar. The Denali has nav, sunroof and AWD. The burb has the 8.1 HD 2500 chassis and all options of nav, sunroof, etc. Stickers are both in the 56K range and the GM red tag deals put these lot lizards at 47K. Please advise as a purchase is soon. Thanks,

Stephen

well going by looks, the denali wins

both are good engines, 6.0L aftermarket is much bigger

I would say the decision comes down to do you really need a HD chassis? If not, go with the denali

go with the denali. unless you're towing, the 8.1 is just going to keep you near a fuel station. it is awsome power, but man do they love their fuel.

Thanks for the responses. I really don't care about 2-3 mpg worse if the 8.1's torque output(gotta love 496 cubic inches) offsets the extra trip to the gas station. The tank is 37gal in the 2500 suburban so it won't be so bad. The Denali has an overall look advantage but the engine output is more important to me....so, any other suggestions before I buy something? The wife may prefer the softer leather in the Denali as well.

What are they going to be used for? Do you honestly think that they will be modded??
Either would be cool
I would do some wheels, Xenarcs, and an intercooled whipple on the Suburban
OR Wheels and a Radix on the Denali. My vote would go for the latter.

in a straight forward race, they are about equal that i recall. the 4L65E takes less power to turn than the 4L85E that the big block uses, but it's torque makes up for some of it. the 2500 is more of a brute and built better. let us know what you pick up.

I purchased the Denali XL yesterday. Thanks for the responses. I test drove the 8.1L suburban that was loaded but it lacked a few creature comforts that my wife would appreciate such as a nicer interior with heated captain's chairs and softer leather. Such things I really don't care about...but you must keep the other half happy. It runs great and the 6.0 is o.k. but the 8.1L felt a little more stout. The only gripe I have with the suburban is the fact that the 6 disc changer is deleted when the navigation system is ordered and with the Denali you can have both.
