Default Z+220 SDPC LS1 Custom Camshaft - 220/224, 0.551/0.551, 114

Anyone running this cam?:

I am wondering is it has mild lobes to reduce "sewing machine" noise of the valvetrain?

I know it is a Crane cam, I am hoping to find a quiet valetrain camshaft. The price sure is right: $354.00

I am running a 221 cam with no noise at all. Get the correct length push rods and you shouldn't have noise.

That's the grind I plan to run in my future LQ9, I believe that it is also the Vinci "Stangbanger". Not sure of anyone running it on this site, but I know that there's an old thread or two about it on LS1Tech.com. I don't believe that the valvetrain noise level was mentioned though...

+1 on getting the correct length pushrods. BTW I am running a 224/230 Comp cam on the aggresive XER lobes and can barely here any valvetrain noise at all with the stock length pushrods.

I know I am extremely impressed by how quiet it is because those XER lobes are pretty harsh but man the truck pulls HARD.

I am actually still running the Comp 918s that I had been running with my other cam, probably pushing it with those at this point but we will see what happens. Thinking about going with dual springs sometime though.

Actually a broken spring and dropped valve wouldnt hurt my feelings too much because it would give me a damn good reason to do something with the heads then.

Looks like a decent cam. This going in a 5.3? I think for the most part every aftermarket cam is going to give a little more valvetrain noise.

That is a pretty good price for a new cam.

Yea, it's just the nature of the beast...
