Lobe separation on your stock 4.8 cam is 114, LS6 cam is 117.5

Here a link to use to see stock specs of both cams

Enjoy.

I have a whole LS6 in my garage. I'm thinking either dropping in the whole motor or just using the cam and heads with a supercharger.

The ls6 cam is a good upgrade if you plan on going with forced induction. I would look into a tr220 on a 112 or maybe the 114 version. Also I would consider the 212/218 low lift.

My brother put a Z06 cam in is 2000 5.3 truck this past weekend and it definitly pulls harder up top. He says the bottem end feels about the same. It has a very stock like idle, but you can hear a slight chop in the exhaust note. If you didn't know it was in there you probably would think its stock.
