I have a couple of questions. Is it a good idea for the rods to be machined for floating pistons. Also, how many miles is on the short block and How did it break. Are the rest of the rods in ok shape or are they bent?

dont know about the floating pistons question.

aprox 60k on that motor and the last 10k were prety harsh, this was the motor i ran 10.91 on and dynoed 630rwhp and 680rwtq.

the rest of the rods should be fine since no other pistons broke. that rod looks strait to me too.

i had a nitrous noid stick open and spray nitrous into the motor when it wasn't running, then i fired it up and all the nitrous went into one cylinder an went poof.

Any idea on how much it would cost to get another rod and a set of pistons and rings. I'm wanting to stick a set of ported heads and pretty big cam in it. What did the block come out of/what year vehicle. Sorry for all the questions.

it came out of an 02 hd2500 truck. you could probably get a stock rod for free if you asked around for it. i am just guessing on costs here, set of forged pistons(higher compresion if you want) ~600, bore it for ??? maybe someone will chime in on that one. by the time you get everything you want the costs will add up.

if someone wanted to go ultra cheap i bet a stock rod and piston could be had around here for next to nothing and then dremel off the high parts of that scratch. slap that piston in there and see what happens. i dont think it would be down on power any since it is a ways down the bore but it might let a little oil past the scratch.

sounds like you want a prety stout set up, big cam and heads. might as well go with rods and pistons and then have a killer botom end.

what kind of valve springs are those? What lift and all.

And how much for that inline fuel pump.

the company name is EX. i put a link to the cmotorsports page with them listed. they are rated to 620lift but i wouldn't go over 600 with them. they are a single spring. the set i have is brand new springs but with used retainers and locks. i think the springs, locks and retainers were over $200. i would take $75 shipped for them.

the pump was $140 new. i would sell it for $40 shipped.
