I am very interested but am just wondering why you chose this cam over the "Trucker" cam. I'm sure there is good reason. What kind of gains could I expect from this cam in my Whipple'd 4.8? What kind of gains did you get out of yours with it? I really want a cam and was looking at this one or the "Trucker" please get back to me some answers as soon as you can. I have cash in hand.

The Ultra-Torque was recommended to me because I still had the stock converter and I tow a boat during the summer. With the Trucker they told me to expect to lose some low-end torque, and to make up for that they wanted me to put in a 2600 stall converter, but I didn't want to do that.
Now that I am going with a bigger engine, I can get away with a little bigger cam and not give up quite as much low end, so that's why I am going with the Trucker now. I am also putting in a converter that will hopefully stall somewhere around 2300 or so.
I changed cam, went to 1.8 rockers, and went to a 3" pulley (10 psi) all at the same time. Before all of the changes, my best ET was 14.38 @ 95 mph, after the change I went 13.57 @ 99, so the combination of more boost and a good cam netted almost a full second. As for low-end torque, I cut a 1.92 60' launching in 4wd....pretty damn good for an extended cab truck that weighs 5500 lbs.
I don't have any pre-cam dyno #'s, but post-cam I did 365 rwph/410 rwtq, and the torque peak hit below 2700 RPM and stayed level till something like 4500 before it started to taper off. My tune was incredibly rich aover 3700 RPM too.
If you have any questions about application, give Vinci a call. They are very helpful with selection. I have a feeling that unless you go with a high stall converter, that Trucker is going to be way big for the 4.8. There are some vids out there of a 5.3 with the Trucker and it was loping pretty good. But definitely call and talk to them if you are not sure what to get.
