WANTED: trashed aluminum 5.3l
I'm looking for a 5.3L (LM4) with the possibility of boring it out and rebuilding it. My budget for this entire build is $1000. I'm horseshoeing a chevy v8 into a porsche (porsche nuts will squirm) but I'm on a college budget. I'll take anything that can be built up and I'd prefer something local or very cheap shipping. If you have any ideas where I can get these for $200 or so, please let me know.

yea...all the 4.8/5.3/6.0s made from 99 to 06 are based on the "LS1". "LS2" based designs would be from 07 to present (the new body style), even so most of the parts from any engine (besides the v6) that gm stuck in a truck are interchangable.

I am looking at throwing a gm v8 into a porsche 944 (2,900lbs). My goal is to hit at least 400hp at the crank. My current plan is to get a 5.3L and punch it out to 5.7L. Throw in a stock ls1 rotating assembly, ls6 cam, ls6 intake, and f-body accessories. It needs to be a ls1 style block and f-body accessories because that is the easiest conversion. I know this whole project is a stretch especially for my budget but I have to try it. Its my dream project that I've been wanting to do for years. (was going to start last year but I got scammed on an ls1 engine). I'm completely open to any suggestions on how to go about this.

Can you show me a setup that actually pulls that off? Would I need a valvejob to pull the same power? More cubes always seems to be the cheapest way for power. Its not that I don't believe you, its that I don't know if higher end parts will be cheaper than punching it out.

I can't help you find the engine, but here's a thread for you to look at. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...hlight=944+5.3
