Well, 14,000 minus 5,880 is 8,120, and you said your final trailer weight is 8,073, which leaves you with 47 lbs 'leeway', if you can call it that. On a math test that would be fine, but with lives at stake I would seriously be thinking about (in addition to gears and the blower) upgraded sway bars and trailing arms, as well as brakes - stainless steel lines and ATE Super Blue fluid at minimum, perhaps a rotor plus-size upgrade, too.

If I might add and a little something and concur with those pushing the radix...I have an '01 z71 suburban and was in the same delima. Rolled over the scales with trailer and truck and family at 13,500 gcw. These trucks gcwr is 14k with 4.10 gears, 13.3k with 3.73 gears. My truck screamed in 2nd gear in Texas hill country. I added a Radix (after doing various other things) and it changed the whole picture. Now I tow in 3rd gear with converter locked at 68mph with the cruise control set. I normally never see more than 4lbs boost and my tranny temps never climb above 200 degrees in 100 degree Texas heat. You will be at your limit. Also look into a different hitch than your basic weight distributing hitch w/dual cam. I also bought a Hensley Arrow. Pricey but well worth it. If you ever tow with the basic setup and then try the Hensley, you'll never go back. Sorry so long, Good Luck. Email if you need more specifics.

Hawk HPS pads, stainless steel braided lines and the Super Blue that Naked AV recommended will go a long ways to helping your stopping power. Sway bars would help also. As long as you have good brakes on your trailer then I think you will be fine as far as stopping power is concerned but I would do the upgrades to the brakes that I mentioned. Sway bars will help you alot too being so loaded down. If you can get the gears done for 500 then go for it wish I could get mine gear job done for that.

Actually more than that seeing as how I plan to drain the grey and black tanks ASAP and that 8073 is if I fill up 100 gals of water which is 833#. Something I will never do. Maybe 20 gals for emergencies but never that much. When we hook up at the campsite there will be water and we are not using a generator for dry camping.

Stainless steel lines are not for now. Spring before I pick up the trailer, I will be flushing the lines so that will be the time for new lines.

Can I upgrade the rotors without too much trouble? I mean, will I have to change the wheels?
