06' "BLACK" Front Lower Wind Deflector???
I have a 05' VHO. It has the grey front lower wind deflector just below the chrome front bumper portion. Anyways, I've been trying to get a black one like the 06' trucks have. The parts department pulls an 06' VIN and a grey one sits in the box. He said all the wind deflectors he had in the boxes in the back where grey.
What the hell is the deal??? I've already went to a few body shops, even the dealer body shop and they said that even if they painted it, it would never look the same or last all that long due to the textured finish.
They all say they can block sand it and paint it, but they all want to much to do that. Hell, I was buying a new deflector for $80.00!!! But it's grey. Prep and paint work costs a lot more than that!
The dealer's body shop said they haven't ran across this problem yet, due to them not having to fix one with the black lower wind deflector.
The guy that I was talking to at the body shop drives an 06' with the black deflector. He said that they are not painted from the factory and that the black color pigment goes all the way through the plastic.
So........what do I do???
Anyone have one they want to sell or trade???

I bought one from a GM dealer about 6 months ago, it was black plastic - not painted. I got it for $63
Here's the part number - 10397999
They should be able to do a search and tell you if there are any dealer's in the area, or in Texas, that have one in stock.

Just FYI, it could have been a swap under the table. In other words, some kid could have swiped the black one and put his stock grey one back in the box. In fact, my parts guy showed to have one in stock and it ended up being the correct part number on a box that contained a rear air deflector for a pontiac. So stuff does get mixed up at the dealer.

Just another FYI, my parts guy did a search throughout different dealers. He found a dealer in Conroe, TX (I'm sure you know the dealer, Buckalew Chevrolet) He has a black one in the box with that part number! It's been sitting there for a while I was told. All the ones coming from GM now will be grey with that part number. No more black ones are supposedly going to be issued out. I got this info straight from GM.
Well, I'm going to Conroe now!
See yall in a bit!
Oh, thanks Colby!
