ok another ? for everyone.

I had a problem with my slicks (MT ET STREET 28x11.5x16 which is 8.7 tread width), when they would actually try to hook up instead of spinning...lol! They would wrinkle the sidewall so bad that the wheel would smack the ground, well smack the balled up tire. Thats the main reason i am wanting to go to a 15" rim! i got some hoosier slicks from a buddy last night and well he had the for over 5 years in a shop and only have 1 pass on them, but now they are dryrotted and im not going to use them, so i am looking at the Hoosier QTP 28x11.5x15 which is 10" tread width. My old slicks i couldnt run over 12.5 psi because it would just roast them and 12.5 psi when it would hook would do what i said above "wrinkle"!

Would the Hoosiers be better for my app or do i need something else???

it was actually spinning those a bit off the line, still went 1.71 60'. just too short. i have another friend that is loaning me some 29x9" slicks for next time. the 26" were tacking me out BAD, and didnt trap any mph. i was down about 5 mph as compared to the folks running the same et's.

i will post up when i get to run the 29" tall slicks. hopefully they hook better. i am looking for some 1.6x 60's... or better gonna do a little weight reduction next time also.

IMO I think the same MT's would perform better on a wider wheel. I don't think the extra 1/2" of tire between the wheel and the pavement of the track will solve your problem. I could be wrong though that's just my opinion.

how much air pressure you run in those. I have 27x10.5x15 hoosiers qtp's and they like about 20-22 psi. I also trap about 1-3 mph slower than most of my friends with the same mods. i also run on the cragar soft 8 15x8's (forgot the b/s). they do ok 1.8 60's with bolt on's 4.10's and sst3600.

i ran 17 to start, dropped 1-2 lbs each run.. spun them fairly bad off the line until i got em down to 13 lbs. they are short though. i think a taller (29") would have liked more pressure.

they hooked best on my brothers race car at 14 lbs.

it was definately a different ride, with a full slick at 13-14 lbs. it floated around a bit.
