2000 rcsb 4.3 Manual transmission..truck takes to long to pick up speed
I just brought a 4.3l 5speed manual rcsb and when I press the gaspedel it's like it doesn't want to go,,rpms do not climb and truck doesn't go..but if I press slowly down on the gas pedal the rpms will slowly climb and after 3-4K rpm it seems normal
Could this be Catalytic converter going bad?
There no CEL on,maybe the dealer turned it off before I brought it today but I've driving like 15miles today so not sure if the CEL will be coming back on soon or not

I should of mentioned that I ran out of gas driving it back home from the dealer, they sold it to me with a empty tank lol,I thought I had enough gas to make it 3miles back home but I ran out a mile away from home so I filled up a $1.50 water jug and then I started it again,it started but it cut off again about 20 feet then I started it again and made it home (8 blocks away),then once I got home parked it for about an hour, got some money and went filled up,drove 10 miles but it felt so sluggish and didn't really have any power while under load..
But I will check out everything you said tommorow

9 chances out of 10, you killed your fuel pump running it out of fuel. This can be replaced pretty painlessly and easily and you'll be back down the road running fine.
I pull an 18' boat with a 4.3/auto... They don't make much Hp but they do make plenty of tq where it matters.

Damn I just youtubed on how to replace fuelpump,2 ways to do it,lift up the bed which I don't have the proper lifts to do or cut a section of the bed to access the fuel pump,I wasn't planning on hacking away at the truck this soon but I guess that seems like the easiest way to go about it..I hope it's not the fuel pump, but I'll see tommorow

It looks right from pic iirc.... As far as bed.... Disconnect the wiring harness near the back...Unbolt and get a friend to help lift it and set it on tire and bumper... Me and my broken back can lift bed off stock truck so long as i have some to help with opposite side and filler neck!!!
