Default 20w50 oil?

Just wondering what it would do if I ran this oil in my truck. My engine knock is absolutely driving me out of my damn mind and I don't know what to do to get rid of it. Will running a thicker oil help any? I have one of those rare diesel gas 6.0's.....it sounds like a ****** diesel at times from the knocking. Makes me sick...

I believe the manual says to NOT use that oil because you risk damage to the engine. Only 5w-30 or 10w-30. Correct me if I'm wrong
Are you getting that cold start knock?

Cold start, warm start....it doesn't matter. I feel that I have a severe case of it. If you hold it at around 1300rpms, its absolutely sickening sounding. I run 10w40 as it is....
The ONLY solution is to take the motor out, and punch it to a 408 or something similiar. Damn GM and their 02 6.0s! Still runs good like always, just makes an aweful racket.

Why? I only use Mobil 1 5w-30 and I have no cold/warm knock issues at all. Never did. I guess they must know something

Try putting 10w-30 or 5w-30 like the manual says and see what happens.

Man I did, I know what ya mean about doin what the manual says but its even louder with the thinner oil. Ive thought about mixing a few quarts of 20/50 with some 5/30. I dunno...then I may just send the motor to Futral.

Well damn
Have you run Top Engine Cleaner through it? Maybe it'd be better to send it to Futral
