2500 6.0 stock 1/4 mi times
I just bought an '02 2500 ECSB 4X4 with the 6.0...I was just wondering what the 1/4 mile times were for stock...I'm guessing low 15s, maybe high 14s..Would basic bolt-ons get me in the low-to-mid 13s? My truck already has 4.10s. Full exhaust, 1.85s, cold air, pullies(?), EWP(?), maybe a throttle body..I'm new to this, so any advice is greatly appreciated.I want to be on the same level as a Lightning, but without the blower.

word on the 16s... I got beat by a ******* malibu lol. It had the V6, I think the main reason I got beat is the 4L80e. But yeah, 2500s arent that fast... if you want fast get a supercharger or turbo.

The stock time on my CC 4x4 was 16.7 to 17.1 with an average of 16.85 over 5 runs. I measured it with a G-Tech using a 12" rollout so really it was slower than those times show. You already seem to have a few mods and you have an EC and 4.10s so your times will be better. My time now at 10 psi and no rollout is in my sig.

Its LQ4 engine(300hp 360 lb/ft has a lower compression ratio than the LQ9 (345 hp 380 torque), the 4l80e trans is an excellent trans IMO, it is very strong and has the same close ratios that the turbo hydramatic 400 does, except the 80e has a 0.75:1 OD 4th gear. The 4l60e has a 3.06:1 while the 80e has a 2.48:1.
This gear will help with 60 ft traction and the rpm drop from 1st to 2nd and 2nd the 3rd is less pronounced than the 60e and its larger split between gears.
then there is the strong 2500 transfer case and the stout 14 bolt 10.5" or 11.5" ring gear rear dif. Parish was running a stock 2500HD transfer case with 1000+rwhpand torque through 1 and ran low 10's in the process.
the LQ4 is very very detuned from the factory, AQllen Nelson has seen over 50 crank hp and 50 crank lb/ft of torque on a stock LQ4 engine with just adding timing alone. Just imagine all the improvements, TM'like lable disabled, new timing and fueling tables, the 1/4 mile improvement from a tune alone would be at least 1/2 a second in the 1/4 mile, not to mention better throttle response and part throttle power and acceleration.
A nice torque converter would lop another 1/2 second minumum off the 1/4 mile, esp. if you get an agressive stall and launch in 4wd to take full advantage of the stall.
The intake manifold and stock throttle body and MAFS are very good from the factory.
I just came in from measuringthe exhaust on a 2006 ecab Chev 2500 with the 6.0. Out of the exhaust manifolds thgere is about 2" of 2.5" pipe, then that expands into dual 3" pipe into dual 3" in/out cats, the cats runs into dual 3" pipe into a huge dual 3" inlet, single 3.5"outlet into a single 3.5" tailpipe.
the exhaust is killer except for the muffler. A set of shorty headers with a 3" outlet would be awesome. The ultimate would be a nice set of long tube headers, along with a muffler swap.
Folks would have to spend thouasands to upgrade to the 6.0, 80e trans, and 14 bolt rear. The only negative about the 2500 truck is its heavy initial weight, due in part to its large frame.
peace

Mine ran mid 16's stock. 16.01 was the best I could get out of my truck back when it was newer and the only mods were a UPD intake and a Hypertech programmer to raise the shift points/rev limiter. Our trucks should be about the same weight since mine is a 2wd crew and yours is a 4x4 ext. Your truck is a little taller, but you have more gear. I think you could pull mid 16's, maybe a 16.0 on a really good night.

Any recommendations on mods? I was thinking, RRs, cold air, full exhaust, and a tune..I want to keep it very street friendly, but want to give the SRT-10 and Lightning guys a run for thier money.. Will the Z06 cam help and not be surging? LS6 intake/90MM TB? Thanks again for the info...

full exhaust wont really help that much, the exhaust on 3/4-tons is ALMOST perfect. All you really need in the exhaust is muffler and some long-tube headers IMO. A new air intake would be good. I dont really know anything about cams, but I dont think a lot of people run the vette cams. Tune will definetly help a lot.
But if you REALLY want power and want to keep up with the lightnings/srt-10s you're going to want some type of blower. I think the only way to keep up with those trucks and avoid having a blower would be running nitrous. I'd just go ahead and get a livernois turbo kit and be done with it.

well, i dont think your going to catch a L or an SRT-10 with our trucks. These big *** trucks werent really meant for that. Well, what i mean is, its going to diminish what the truck was meant for if you mod it to the point of catching an L or an SRT-10. I am really happy with mine and i think if you went the route i did you would be very happy. I still got ungoddly torque on the bottom end and can muster low 1.90 60' times all day with this 7000lb truck...and that aint bad!. The top end is not as great but still gets down the track. It has spanked a few 5.0's and more than its share of mildly modded 1/2 tons and with its somewhat conservative tune, can still pull 10,000lbs+ through the hills like there is nothing back there.... You may fair a little better than me with the 4L80 tranny compared to my Allison because there is no way to adjust the shift points on these yet. Get a blower, CAI, shift kit, stall and you will be in upper 13's....and that aint bad for these big suckers. If you wanna go faster, get a half tone and MOD it up!
