Start with a headers, tune and gear swap. 4.56 will wake it up but it will still be slow

I have an 05 4.8 with some mods and love it! not the fastest truck on the road but it sounds mean and gets the job done on the street. I have 4.10s, pacesetter headers with no cats, mild cam, dyno tune, intake, TSP underdrive pulley, and 160* thermo. I had a transgo shift kit and other tranny mods but my tranny went out not too long ago since I have 100k on my truck. Its my first and only truck so once I get another vehicle Im gonna do a 6.0 swap, but for now its fun and a good DD.

Sweet well im all for pumping up the 4.8 if im not wasting my money but seems like most people lean towards the 6.0 for the best mod for the money. my truck runs good its just a turd down low if i could improve my 0/60 time id be happy seems to be a dead spot when i accelerate like its not doing much but then when it get's up in the rpm's it starts to move pretty good. i dont care about being the fastest truck out there but when i smash the gas i want it to move!

It is pretty common to read that if youre going to try to make the 4.8 quick, you're going to need to go forced induction or spray nitrous.

If you're looking for N/A then swap to a 6.0 imo
A weekend with 2-3 people? Sheesh, I did an engine swap starting friday morning, and took my time and drove to get lunch at noon on saturday. Engine swaps are not hard...

I think everything changes over. Stock 4.8 computer can be reprogrammed/tuned to run 6L. Only electronic issue I think is drive-by wire throttle body instead of cable tb. GM made the switch to dbw around '05. Im pretty sure the tb are interchangable to intake manifold

LQ4 came in chevy gmc 2500 series trucks and have 9.4 to 1 compression ratio. The LQ9 has 10 to 1 compression ratio and came in cadillac escalades. Around 2000 and older 6L should be avoided, cuz the crank snout is different length and creates problems with bolting up to trans.

thats all I know off the top of my head. I also welcome any detailed info on swapping the engine. Something like ls1howto would be great if someone wanted to take the time to do it

If i started over I would have turbocharged my 4.8 right off the bat. And not have wasted my time on headers, nitrous and all the other crap.
