Default 408 pricing

This seems pricey. Any sponsors here or at LS1Tech do abetter price?

New custom built small block Chevy Elite stroker short blocks for LS and LQ based engine combinations. They are assembled with brand new GM 6.0 iron blocks (also available with big bore aluminum LS blocks for additional 2,450.00 ), custom made JE forged pistons in your choice of compression ratio, Eagle 4340 forged steel crankshafts, Eagle 4340 forged H beam rods, JE plasma moly file fit rings, Clevite HP performance bearings, Durabond cam bearings,GM rear main seal and housing and internally balanced. Available in 402,408 and 410 cubic inch displacements. Assembled with Torco MPZ synthetic assembly lube. $4000.00 shipped.

What do you think? I would still need many parts to complete and this would almost destroy my budget.

I think you're insane. But hey....

Most 402/408 combos seem to fall between $7K and $10K total when all is said and done, at least the ones worth doing.

Look into the LS2 402 that SDPC sells.....Quite the quality motor and an outstanding sponsor (soon to be listed)

price sounds decent, however, I would go for things like assembly practices, reputation, customer service, yada yada over price, but thats just me.

This is really an undercover operation. Once I get this thing built and ready to install I may throw it in the Tahoe just to see the numbers but in the end I will be looking for a RCSB/ECSB Silverado to put it in. I'm sure I'll need an 80E to put behind though...

Of course. I just don't know who to look at. I have heard horror stories around my area with machine shops and builders so I'm looking for a sponsor or referal from guys on this site. A builder with a solid reputaion. It's a big investment and I want to get it right the first time. I will be picking yours and BlownChevy's brains on compression ratio/boost/heads/cam blah blah blah I want to put the radix on it in the end.

The web page says not compatible with pre 2005 knock sensors. Are these easily replaced? Also one bullet says "Includes new, factory-installed cam, rod and main bearings" and 5 lines down it says "Oil pump, camshaft, pans, and plates not included" Is the cashaft in it or not?
