are you asking can you install a ls1 5.7 to replace the 5.3? if so the answer is yes. I dont' think there is that much trouble in doing the swap. however, there are some guys on here that have done it.

Will swap with no problem. Take the intake, oil pan and all the accessories off the 5.3 and put them on the 5.7.

Yes. most guy's stay with the ls1 intake and modify the larger Ls1 fuel rails to fit. Saw that trick on amy's 12.1 sec rcsb . More power less weight how can that not be good.

If you kept the LS1 manifold, why would you have to modify the LS1 fuel rail to fit

I'm looking at maybe picking up an LS1 here pretty soon and had a question;

Should I, swap the 5.3 intake and heads onto the 5.7 block or leave the whole 5.7 setup the way it came from the factory? Just wondering what would make better power.

Also if I leave the 5.7 the way it is, I can still use my 02' 5.3 PCM with it just have it recustom tuned correct?

Thanks

Unless you get the entire front accessory drive unit from the LS1 ( basically the complete motor including intake ) you will need to use your intake and acc drive system as they are inherently different due to intake rise, water pump outlet, etc. The LS1 intake makes a TINY bit more power up top but is worse everywhere else compared to the truck intake. Absolutely no difference worth swapping for.
The stock PCM will drive the 5.7L engine just fine for starters. I would eventually get a retune to realize the full power potential tho.
Again, overall an easy swap.
