yeah, thats what I would think. The cover of the GMPP catalog for '06 has a 1970 Chevelle on it and it's powered by a 572 and also has a 4L60E trans. I do not know how they hold the HP/TQ, but I guess they do.

My tranny builder has a 97 turbo silverado with a 4L60e with a trans brake.. He uses that truck to try to brake the transmission to build them better.. So far it's held up pretty good.. He is pulling 1.5 60'

You get a few good launches on sticky tires... you will hurt a trans.... but its all about how its built, and about how its driven...... im sorry but most of the coddington hot rods are trailer queens... and unfortunately probably are rarely driven, and when they are probably would remind you of Driving Ms. Daisy.
Its sad, but we all know its true

Let's see...the 4L65E is rated for 345hp and 380torque...coincedentally the same hp/tq as a stock Silverado SS. I don't know about the 572, but my buddy's 502 only dyno'd at 375hp/458tq at the rear wheels with a 5 speed...dynoed in 3rd and 4th. That's a lot of drivetrain loss for a manual trans. Anyhow I imagine the 4L60E would last as long as you don't hook up.

That is absurd. The real rating of a 4L60-E is 210HP and 280ft/lbs torque. Same as a 700R4. It's simple PCM retardation that lets them exist behind more powerful engines. Putting an electronic 700R4 behind a 572 is twice as dumb as using them with LS2's. At least with LS2's (Corvette, GTO, SSR, TBSS, etc.) there is plenty of torque management there to protect the stupid thing. The same can be said for Jay Leno's 1000HP Twin Turbo Toronado. GM powertrain set that thing up and it's got torque management and skinny tires to protect it. THAT'S IT - skinny tires, all American Hotrod needs to do is mount up some 235's on that thing and that electric 700R4 will be just fine.
I don't care how many different ways a 700R4 is modified, electrified, or renamed, they will always be a money pit when mistaken for a "performance" transmission. The sad thing is that so many people need first-hand experience in that to finally realize and admit it.
