That's good news. I didn't expect to see them until Labor Day. The TCM for the 6 spd is inside the trans so if you want a reflash it has to be done on site. I'm buying a crew w/6L80E, but I'm not going to pay anywhere near MSRP.

Personally i like the look of disc all the way around, but i can't see them switching again.
+1. Cheaper means drums stay. Little stoppin power is done @ the rear, be it drum or disc.

Reflash on site? Please explain.

Not going to pay near MSRP must mean u get a discount or know how to negotiate.

Denali Dude, I'll believe a RCSB w/ a 6L80E when I see it; kinda like a from factory 6L( NBS) or a 6.2L in a NNBS reg. cab. GM leaves us reg. cabs out in the cold when it comes to the good stuff ( big motor/ light body or a heavy duty tranny in same.

Now a RCSB w/ 6.2L as option, & allow for a 6A or 6M tranny as buyer wants.
That'd be cool!!!

The 6L80E is tied to the 5.3,6.0 and 6.2 not the style of cab you order. On site reflash just means your truck has to be at the location where the PC or laptop that is doing the reflash is physically located. You can't do a mail order reflash on a 6L80E TCM. You could mail order a reflash for the ECM, but not the 6L80E TCM. This truck uses a ECM and a TCM not a PCM. I guess PCM which combines the duties of a ECM and a TCM in one box has become legacy technology.

I meant allow the buyer to build the truck as they wish, optioned how they want w/ whatever cab, tranny, motor GM sells for light duty trucks. Not, @ GM, we only offer this motor & tranny w/ this platform.

Let us check boxes how we want, not how they (GM) tie stuff together.

RCSB 6.2L/ 6 spd M/ etc. would fry the tires to the rims!!!

I think the 5.3 with the 6 speed is going to be a great combo. It will easily be as fast as a 6.0L with anything but 4.10s and the old 4 speed

Check the option box for 6.0L or 6.2L engine. 9.5" 14-bolt & rear discs come on those.

And according to GM, 5.3L reg cabs will get the 6L80E mid-year. Believe it when I see it. If it does happen, it's gonna be a tough decision for me...

Ext-cab 6.0 or reg-cab 5.3???

ps. I didn't go drive one, it rained all weekend.
