Has anyone ran a tire for a 9" rim on a 9.5" rim?

No such thing as a tire spec'd for a 9" rim. Tires are spec'd for a range of widths. Best bet is to check the mfr's website to see what is the acceptable range.

Yeah kind of confusing how about this.
Tire manufacture accepted range is a 9" wide rim. Has anyone put a 9" manufacture range wide tire on a 9.5" rim and had any problems.

I doubt you are going to have any problems. The sidewall will not sit as square with the wheel as the manufacturer wants but I bet it will work.

9" is not an accepted range, it is one size. As stated, there is an accepted range of width a tire can usually fit. Nothing confusing about it at all.
What size is the tire in question and the manufacturer?

This is what Im talking about http://www.nittotire.com/#index.tire.nt420s.sizes

Look at the size 255/50/18 look under approved rim it say's 7.0-(8.0)-9.0 These should be the approved rim width sizes right? So 9.0 would be a approved max 9.0".

On a 9.5 inch wide wheel, it is best to have at least a 275 wide tire. The size you mentioned could be installed on that wheel, and, for most consumers, there would probably never be any problem. But the manufacturer IS trying to protect itself from people like us, who have alot higher torque than normal, and use it regularly. With excessive torque and an improper setup, the risk of tire failure at the bead is significantly higher, and blowouts can happen if the tires are not inspected for damage regularly. I usually see these types of tire problems on chipped diesels, running the wrong setup for custom wheels and tires, but we are not immune. I hope this makes sense.

That is correct. The approved range is between 7.0" and 9.0", with 9.0" being the maximum.

For the other published specs (section width, tread width, etc.), an 8.0" rim was used (this is the number in parentheses).
