hey guys need some help here, i got a 02 silverado it has a Gen 3 /4.8L i just recently acquired a 2012 6.0L gen 4 Flex Fuel. i want to swap motors. do i need the harness from the wrecked truck for this 6.0?

You can swap it, you need to do some modifications.

The Gen IV has a 58X reluctor wheel crank, camshaft reluctor on the front( and also different count), knock sensors on different locations and I can't recall what else at the moment.

There's a Lingenfelter conversion box that addresses the crank/cam count differences. Look up "Gen IV swap in Gen III" or something like that on the Internet. Lots of good information out there.

Or, just find yourself a Gen III 6.0. That'll be a direct swap for your 4.8. Literally plug and play. Just get a computer reflash and off you go. 🛻

See if you can find someone to trade a Gen III 6.0 for your Gen IV 6.0 locally maybe? It'll be easier.

Where in TX are you located? I may be getting my hands on a Gen 3 6.0 here soon.

you can also use the Lingenfelter trigger box if you want, then you just plug and chug

That is a fair point. Just close your eyes when you look at the bearings.
