Default AC compressor pulley seized? (Dodge)

Hey guys sorry but this is for a Dodge Dakota 3.9. I know this is a little off topic, but maybe someone can help. The pulley on the compressor is seized up. The belt finally broke off. The pulley will not budge at all. I was reading an AC site, and was thinking maybe it is the pulley bearing. They said if it was the compressor, the pulley would still move when the clutch is disengaged. Or maybe it is the clutch. I was thinking of just replacing the pulley and bearing assembly, but please give me your opinions on this, and do I need to discharge the system to do this. Sorry, I have no experience with anything like this, but am ready to tackle the job, with your advice. For now, I will bypass the compressor. Thanks. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
