AC Delco PF 59 to PF 46 ????
When did GM cange the PF59 to a PF46 for the oil filter on the trucks? That short little 46 filter is a joke. I understand they will no longer be making the PF59. I just ran out of my stock and went to get some new ones and found this out.

that changed happened sometime last year. the 59 wasn't replaced by the 62 (whatever that is). the 59 was replaced with the 46. you could use the 61 in it's place though.

when that part number change went into effect we got alot of the same response here at work. we've had no problems to date with the oiling system. it sure doesn't look much like a "truck" type filter.

So, Alternatives to the PF-59
K&N, HP-2006 (PF-59 x-ref)
K&N, HP 1007 (PF-46 x-ref)
Mobil 1, M1-206
Wix, 51522
AC, UPF-44 (ACD's Ultra-Premium 46)
AC, PF-61 (Although listed, it has no anti-drainback valve but the same dimensions as the PF-59)
So, Alternatives to the PF-59
K&N, HP-2006 (PF-59 x-ref)

It did switch to the pf46. Same filter that they have allways been using on the Fbodies and Corvettes. It may be smaller, but i'm sure if it's good enough for a vette it is plenty good enough for the truck engines. I may be switching to a K&N though, have heard good things about thier oil filters.
