The acetone thing does work. You need to use non-reformulated gasoline in my opinion. I have tried it with both brands og gasoline and got the best results with gasoline without any methanol added.
Saw a couple mpg increase too.
Do a search, there is allot on this subject here.

QUESTION: What are the dimensions of the ScanGauge?
ANSWER: The ScanGauge is 5.2"Wide, 2.7"High and 2.1"Deep
you see how many things it is capable of reading?
Troubleshoot your own car and turn off the
"Check Engine", "Service Engine Soon", or other
warning lamp and clear the trouble warnings.
Reads Trouble Codes
Reads conditions that set the Trouble Code
Clears Trouble Codes
Turns off "Check Engine" light
Make and store up to 10 rewritable special codes
to send to the vehicle computer
Shows 4 gauges at a time from the possible following:
Fuel Economy (MPG - gasoline engines only)
Fuel Rate (GPH - gasoline engines only)
Battery Voltage
Coolant Temperature
Intake Air Temperature
Engine Speed (RPM)
Vehicle speed (MPH)
Manifold Pressure (not available on some vehicles)
Engine Load
Throttle Position
Ignition Timing
Open/Closed Loop
Automatically tracks three sets of trip data -
Current (short) Trip
Days (total) Trips
Previous Days Trips
Maximum Speed
Average Speed
Maximum Coolant Temperature
Maximum RPM
Driving Time
Driving Distance
Fuel Used (Gasoline engines only)
Trip Fuel Economy(Gasoline engines only)
i got the Proscan a while back and still have no luck on getting it to work?? so i just quit messing with it. wasted $120.

Im getting my Chemistry proffessor to check it out. He worked as a chemical engineer for a bunch of years so he knows his stuff. Now he is retired and harasses innocent college students with extra long lab write ups and freakishly hard exams. I just emailed it to him. I too am a bit skeptical and am not all the way cool with putting acetone in the tank.
