The only advice I can tell you is this: Several years ago, I had to attend a training class from GM, on water leaks involving new cars and trucks. The class covered every type of water leak you could imagine and all the diffrent ways to test, diagnose and look. At the end of the class, we were able to ask the GM Design Technician who was instructing the class, diffrent questions and concers we had. One of the topics mentioned was an aftermarket sunroof install vs. a GM OEM Factory sunroof install. The answer the GM Designer gave us was "NO MATTER WHO PUTS A SUNROOF IN ANY KIND OF CAR, WHEATHER IT BE GM, FORD OR JOE COMMON, KEEP IN MIND YOU ARE STILL BUYING A VEHICLE WITH A LARGE HOLE IN THE ROOF. AND IN MY EXTENSIVE TRAINING, ANY LARGE HOLE IN ANY OBJECT WILL LIKELY ATTRACT SOME SORT OF WATER"

So, after this, I have never bought anything with a sunroof. Not to mention, I work on a lot.....a lot...of water leaks in my shop. So that confirms to me, that if GM can't put a sunroof in, that won't leak......then a private shop ain't gonna' have much better luck either.

There's that....

I have not done one myself but I have seen a couple that were professionally done here and they looked real nice. They cost ~$1200 complete and looked factory, or better. I have thought about it before but the other thing that concerns me is the structural integrity being slightly compromised?

I have one. I had it done to the sss about three years ago and love it. One of the best mods on my truck. It cost me $1100 and came with a five year warranty. I have had no leaks and it looks like it came from the factory.

I put mine in myself 2 years ago. It has never leaked. It's a manual glass one but I'm very happy with it. I can have my window down on the freeway with it open and papers dont even blow around in the truck. It was about $120 off ebay new.

It only took a few hours to put in. I was a little nervous when I cut the hole, but whats the worst that can happen? You get a convertible.

Regency trucks? Most all regency or Southern Comfort or Choo Choo Customs trucks have an aftermarket roof in them. The trucks delivered straight form GM have a GM sunroof in them, hence the GM part numbered replacemtn parts avail. from GM. Granted the items are probably made by another manufacturer. Like Lear for instance. GM don't make their own door panels and dash panels, Lear makes them for them...which is now ATI. But the moral I was keying toward was anything "factory installed" wheather it be outsourced by GM is supoposed to be more reliable than something a private shop does. But I see flaws and leaks in both. I have seen sunroofs and t-tops on cars and trucks with 100,000 miles THAT HAVE NEVER HAD A LEAK. But I've seen MORE with leaks and none.

MORAL OF THE STORY: BUY A CAR OR TRUCK WITH A HOLE IN THE ROOF, DON'T BITCH ABOUT WATER LEAKS

my friend just had one put in on his truck.
cost him about $800 installed.
it was power too.
only thing i didn't like about it was that the cover was like a window shade.
