Regency trucks? Most all regency or Southern Comfort or Choo Choo Customs trucks have an aftermarket roof in them. The trucks delivered straight form GM have a GM sunroof in them, hence the GM part numbered replacemtn parts avail. from GM. Granted the items are probably made by another manufacturer. Like Lear for instance. GM don't make their own door panels and dash panels, Lear makes them for them...which is now ATI. But the moral I was keying toward was anything "factory installed" wheather it be outsourced by GM is supoposed to be more reliable than something a private shop does. But I see flaws and leaks in both. I have seen sunroofs and t-tops on cars and trucks with 100,000 miles THAT HAVE NEVER HAD A LEAK. But I've seen MORE with leaks and none.
MORAL OF THE STORY: BUY A CAR OR TRUCK WITH A HOLE IN THE ROOF, DON'T BITCH ABOUT WATER LEAKS

I've been with Toyota/Lexus for over 16 years, and our factory sunroofs generally don't leak. Actually, I've never seen a new Lexus without a factory sunroof. The sunroofs have gutters and drain hoses in all 4 corners, if the drains get clogged, then water enters the vehicle. I've seen drain hoses get mis-routed when repairs were done, causing electrical junction blocks to get filled with water and short. Most of the problems I've seen have been with aftermarket roofs that were installed in Toyotas. Personally, if I wanted a sunroof, it would have to be factory for me.

The biggest problem we're having here with GM sunroofs is the drainage gutters and funneled into a drain tube, and 3 out of 10 have the drain tubes mis-routed from the factory and they leak into the headliner area ordown the A-Pillar and into the fuse block or into the dash and floor board area. We have to go in and correct the f*ck-up the robot or employee did in the assembly stage.
Then, 6 out of 10 vehicles have the drainage gutters blocked by debris. Usually some pine needles or leaves or **** like that. I'd say at least one, maybe twice a week we see a water leak complaint. The bad thing is, none of my Techs want to work on a water leak Repair Order because they're working on commission. So they may work on a diagnosis for 2 hours, but warranty may only pay for .3 thenths of an hour for diagnostics. So most Techs refuse to work on them and good ol' Torque get to do the water leak diagnosis. Lovely!!
