Well not necessarily. The fuse is there to protect the wire from overheating and/or melting. So the size of the fuse is dependent upon what size and length of wire you are going to use.

Read here for some good info.

And here for wire size info.

Well, I gave it a shot...got a second B+ fusible link from GMPartsDirect and wired it in yesterday. A little grinding to the red box with a dremel and some wire loom and you can't even tell. (sorry no pics, left the digi camera with the wife and only had a little daylight to work with anyway).

I figure that having the extra wire will allow for more current flow and need a larger "fuse" on that ciruit, so hopefully the dual fusible links can handle the load and not smoke...if they do, I'll just upgrade to a bigger fused wire.

First thing I noticed, the factory voltmeter seems to be reading a tick higher than before (haven't checked it with my own meter yet), and the guage and headlights don't dip/dim as badly as before with the defroster on when the compressor and e-fans engauge. There's still a dip in volts when it hits, but it isn't as drastic. I think I'm going to wire in another relay and switch to disable the positive lead for the a/c fan relay when it isn't necessary (like when it's 30* out and the defroster is on lol).

I've only driven it about 10 miles so far, so I'll just keep my eyes on it and I guess time will tell

So far I've only done the B+ wire, eventually I'll probably do the Big3 with somewhere between 4 to 0 gauge....

Very neat, Onyx! Where did you get the fuse and what is the rating on it?

It looks like a Mega-fuse. Autozone sells a 175A. I use one on my setup, but I use a factory location in the electrical center for it.

Here is mine after I added this fuse holder.

Pictures suck best I could do in the dark with my old outdated camera.
Holder was about twice as big as I was expecting... O well used it anyway.

Here is where my ground ties in from the battery and then goes to one of the firewall lugs. Black wires on the acc. bracket above the PS pump. Just drilled and tapped a hole.

Here is my breaker fuse for the wire going to the amps.
