Question am i gettin ripped?

I got a price the other day from a guy, for a 02 model 5.3 motor and tranny, with less than 50k on it, and he said he would sell me the motor and tranny, swap mine out for me (Iwould do it myself but i work 3rd shift and its rough trying to get up and work on stuff, i dont have a garage), and give me a 90 day warranty on it for 3500... good? bad? decent?

I am not saying go 6.0 as a "bandwagon answer" either.... if you got with a shop that would do the work for a reasonable price and you hunted for a cheaper 6.0 yourself you could have a bigger motor sitting in the same spot for the same money or maybe a touch less or more depending on a few variables.... Just my $.02 though...

I dont think of the 6l as a "bandwagon" answer. The difference in useable torque is night and day. Hell Id do the swap for you for that with a 6l (cept I dont have a place to do it) I paid less than $2000 for mine, but I did all the work. It also included ARP rod bolts, and a new cam though. If you look, you can get a 6l for a resonable price. Hell for that matter you should be able to find a 5.3 for CHEAP. Then just have it shiped to the shop doing the swap.

I have seen dismantlers of damaged GM trucks sell complete pull outs LQ9s $2800 and 4L65Es $1000 both with 3-7mi.
