So I tried to do this today. I wasn't sure what to do with the tube connected to the intake on my 2011, appeared to be connecting the air intake to the intake manifold, maybe. I didn't get a pic taken... anyone know about this and what I'm supposed to do with it? It was like a 3/8ths tube.

Drill and install a nipple in the tube to attach it to. You can see it in my pics above. The blue hose

Just wanted to throw this out there. My truck has a 6.0, BB tune, headers and ORY, muffler in place of stock, modded stock intake, 3.73s with heavy 24s. Ive been running a stock intake with the bottom silencer cut out and sealed, with the bottom of the air box cut out. Muffler was a worn out 14" magnaflow. I just finally did the 4" pvc intake and i swapped the 14" for a new 18" magnaflow. I made the same trip last week. 170 miles to school and 170 back. They way up I got 17.9 and the way there i got 17.8. This was cruise set at 72, 95% interstate and 5% city. Gas station to gas station. I just got this stuff done yesterday and made the trip back home. Same gas stations. Got 19.7 mpg. 170 miles and 8.6 gallons. So i picked up 1.8 mpg with the intake and new muffler. It sounds crazy, but I can notice the power difference. Maybe because I was tuned for an intake, but only had the stock one. not sure. Just wanted to throw it out there. I know SamCarrol picked up 2-3 with his intake, so it was well worth the 18 bucks I spent.

I should say its not doable if you still have a clutch fan since the elbow would be in the fan.

I have been making this trip for the last 4 years and never got better than 18.2, so ive put some time into checking it.

Didnt have an elbow that would fit a 4" pvc, so I just used another 4-4 adapter and it worked great. Gonna paint it black tomorrow.

4-4 adapter on the TB to 4" elbow, 4-4 from elbow to 4" pvc. 4-3 adapter to the MAF.
If you notice, its offset to the left a bit. Had to do this to clear the pulley to the bottom right. If I would have gone with 3" everything, it wouldnt have been a problem. Not sure if that would make a difference or not.

do you have any pics of what the bottom of the air box looks like bc im thinking about doing this

All i did was cut a 5x5 square in it..I used to have an tube running down behind my fog light, but i got rid of that. I took out the air box tray as well, and added some plastic in there to kind of block water if it was to splash up, but still have some open air down there. Never had a problem in the 3 years its been like that

4" silicone elbow at throttle body
12" long section of 4" exhaust pipe, painted silver to reflect heat.
4" sleeve with 4" to 3" sleeve at MAF end
Modded stock airbox (basically wide open bottom) and steel bracing all but removed.
Multiple Datalogs have shown WOT IAT's actually lower than ambient in cooler weather, very close to ambient at cruise, and no more than 20-30 degrees if stuck in traffic...

I got mine on today! I really didn't expect much out of this, figured it was just one of those things you do, but I definitely feel better throttle response out of my 5.3.

That looks good KC. Where did you get your silicone pieces?

siliconeintakes dot com. I tried the hardware store stuff but it didn't work out, so I bit the bullet and ordered stuff. $65 shipped and that was everything but the tube, which was about $3 from hardware store. Only problem was 2 of my hose clamps were too small
I used 4"-4" elbow, 4"-3.75" reducer, 10mm vacuum hose, 1/4"NPT x 3/8th barbed brass fitting, couple .5" clamps, one 3.75" clamp, one 4" clamp and need two more 4.5" clamps.
