hi from texas.

im very new to this forum but have known of the website and decided to seek out help if available.

anyways, i have an 03 silverado that runs without problems until last night. i was fueling up and after when i turned the key i immediately received a "battery not charging" message. as soon as i did i turned off the a/c, turned off the radio, and dimmed the dash lights and the truck got me most of the way home without the message reappearing. i checked under the hood this morning and noticed heavy white junk on the red terminal to the battery. everything else seems normal. belts in the right place, not slipping, but i do remember hearing something especially squeaky last night under the hood. anyways, my first course of action will be to clean the terminal but after that would y'all suggest anything else worth looking at?

i have an idea perhaps the alternator needs a look at, but the battery is only 8-10 months old.

any info helps and i really appreciate y'all reading my thread.

Yes check, clean the pos, neg terminals.. Your alt might be ready for replacement or a rebuild.. Have it tested..
