"BATTERY NOT CHARGING" Message
I have not driven my truck for over a month, and I finally just finished up a few things on it last night. This morning I want to drive it to work but the battery was dead, so I just figured that I could jump it. I was wrong, as soon as I remove the jumper cables the truck would just die. After the second time I jumped it, I saw that I had the message saying "BATTERY NOT CHARGING" and when I took the cables off it died again. I have no idea why this would come up. What are the reasons for this to happen, and how can I fix it? The owners manual just says that I should have the problem checked asap. What can I do so I can drive it this weekend?

i would take the battery to an auto parts and have it tested. i bet it is bad. even though the alternater should run the truck if the battery is completely drained the alternator will not have enough juice to start charging or to keep charging. do you have another vehicle. install another battery in there and i bet it will fire right up.

How long have you had that particular battery in there? Also... maybe the alternator is gone... Idk how that would be since all it did was sit there for a month. Might wanna exhange that battery out and see if thts the prob first. Good luck.

I got the problem fixed. I tried jumping the truck at about 5AM this morning and I couldn't see everything very well. After I got bak from work I ended up realizing that the belt was not conpletely on. I feel like an idiot but I got it all put back together and jumped the truck, and I havn't had a problem for the rest of the day. Thank for your help.

hey, the SAME thing happened to me, that message come up and my friend said it was the alternater, so i believed him and i bought a new battery and new alternator. I put both things in and sure enough, the message was still there...turns out it was a loose cable. you know the + plug box next to the engine? the red box thing, check that....there is a orange cable that runs from the alternator to the box and then to the battery. mine was loose from some stuff i hooked up to it. mess with it and see if something connects. hope that helped.
