Totally out of my realm of knowledge, I have no expertise there, was just stating the only example of a vechicle with a bent frame and how it was a PITA.

They wouldn't be welding on the front. No idea really what the GM guy was talking about, but since the frame is partially hydroformed (the front end only), adding heat to any part, for welding or for making the steel more malleable is, by GM standards, not good. Whether or not this is true or not is beyond me. I just heard from a guy who represents the the company who built my truck, and figured he'd know.

Like i've said though, it was already straightened once a week ago, and it's going back for more, since it's obviously wrong. As far as the damage went, like i said before, the bend is right between the rear axle and rear leaf spring mounting bracket. It was enough of a bend to put bend the factory trailer hitch to about 40* from 90 and to mash the bumper into the bed (let's just say it wasn't supposed to be a chrome roll pan). All the damage was done by a honda accord coupe going highway speeds...

I wonder what kind of work would be involved using a 1999 GMC Sierra 2500 SCLB 2x4 for donor parts... Think you can graft the transfer case and front driveline from my 1999 silverado 1500 5.3L LT z71 and put it onto the 6.0L setup? For that matter, think the cab and bed will fit on it too?

Well **** if its that far back just cut the frame off and back half it so you can run some meats under there

Seriously though if its at the rear axle then it shouldn't be too much trouble.

Just because you two were with the same company should not matter with your claim. Just dont let the adjustor screw you around. If you dont feel that the truck is safe tell the adjustor if he dosent agree then take it to his boss. Find someone who works at the bodyshop to write you an opinion why it is unsafe and take it to the adjustor. Make sure they use OEM parts to dont let them put that tiawan crap on there.
