I don't think there is a way, unless you wanna rebuild your motor, with aftermarket pistons..

I recall some discussion from years ago about carbon deposits sounding like piston slap. If I remember right, Gen-III engine have a negative deck height meaning the pistons actually protrude into the head gasket area to minimize that piston-to-head clearance and reduce emissions. The TSB said carbon deposits in this area can be heard as something that sounds like piston slap. The solution is to run GM Top Engine Cleaner though it or Seafoam. These are harsh chemical cleaners and will probably foul the plugs. Oil change after treatment is mandatory.
If it's not carbon deposits there's nothing you can do. The short-skirts on the pistons and the pressed pins cause the pistons to rock excessively. You could always slap some Cummins badging on the fenders, no body will doubt it's a Diesel.

Use GM Top Engine Cleaner through a vacuum port and let it sit over night... Usually helps if not eliminates the noise... It's gonna smoke like a freight train once you start it up...

How does this help? Is it because the engine warms up quicker without the clutch fan?
