i thought about that. im not too crazy about the aluminum ones. my truck is not flashy at all so i was looking for something a tad more inconspicuous. i guess i should just look for another rubber antenna. soo... anyone got one ?

I have a short aluminum one as well but it's black. The opposite of flashy, most people never see the thing which is a blessing and a curse when they smack it.

bought a new one, busted it when i was installing it. i cant see the rubber doing anything for reception. i thought there would be a wire or something that is inside, but its solid rubber. i have the EXACT SAME reception with the rubber on as i do with just the small metal threaded part of the antenna. the aluminum ones have to pick up a little better. you havea pic or a link to the one you have on your truck spoolin ?

The base is what failes most often. If you buy a replacement base it will use a 7mm stud instead of the 6mm your truck came with. Toss on a new 7mm factory mast and your good to go.

the base on mine is good to go. its the actual antenna that is garbage. its only a solid rubber antenna. the base of the antenna is the only part thats metal. the rubber antenna keeps separating from the metal screw in base. then its trash. id like to see some of the billet screw in styles. ebay is shotty at best with the actual pics.

You can see the antenna in some of the pics in the following thread...

I can't access photobucket from my work computer so this is as good as I can do.
