Re: BigTex (Cold air dam)
Well cashdude, it wasn't too hard. Actually it isn't complete, but it works as-is, so I stopped messing with it.
I took out the factory box and bottom plate. I used cardboard for a template, and created a mock-up shield like the K&N kit. I plan on making the final version out of thin sheetmetal, but I made this one out of plywood. Wood is so much easier to trim and work with, so I decided to make a Beta version in wood, then use it as a final template. Its basically in three parts - rear shield, inside shield, and floor. I covered it in heat reflective insulation. Its basically bubblewrap in foil. For a filter, I am using that K&N cone that fits directly on the end of the MAF. You can get it at any autostore. Its part number 5197 or something like that. The intake tube is full 4" PVC. I am using the rubber gaskets form the original intake to connect the PVC to the throttle body and to the MAF. The PVC is painted a gloss black and looks good. I was afraid of heat soaking in the intake tube (the coolant hose is very close to it), so I wrapped it in that same heat resistant material. So far so good with it.
Misc parts for everything ~$20
K&N Filter ~$55
Basically, it flows well, its cheap, and I didn't mind drilling holes in the tube for nitrous.
