Default Bolt on mods that help the most..

Im kinda knew to the modding the truck scene. I have a 2000 Silverado z71. Longbed regular cab, and 4 wheel drive, 5.3liter, bone stock. What bolt ons are the best to get. Or what boltons give give the best power increase. I might be getting a JET Spectrum tuner so I can tune it myself to see if that helps some.

Don't bother with a tuner, get a custom tune.

+1 Custom tune is the only way to go

Here's a link to the Bolt On Mod sticky from the GM Performance section...this question gets asked just about daily lol

Most effective engine bolt ons are a custom tune (not an "engine" bolt on but the most important mod IMO) and some long tube headers. A higher stalled torque converter and deeper rear end gears can be good for .3-.5 for lower et's, sometimes a little more. More internal, but easy enough to be a bolt on would be a cam (with springs and pushrods), which has been my personal favorite mod with the proper tuning. Other bolt ons include CAI, wether it be purchased or home made, and a free flowing exhaust. After the basics are done, other bolt ons that free up some horsepower include electric fans and underdrive pullies.

when I said Jet Tuner, Its not a handheld programmer, its like ls1edit, or efilive. I figured I could get a custom tune somewhere and download it. Wouldnt that be fine to do?

I'm not familiar with JET Spectrum (I've heard of Jet before though), but I don't know how powerful the software is. EFILive and HPTuners are the popular programs that seem to have the most support that I'm aware of.

For the GENIII and new trucks, efilive and or hptuners is the only way to go IMO
The jet specktrum is not user friendly at all, especially if you are new at tuning.I do not recommend the jet.
If you do,one day you would be very sorry. It is that bad compared to efilive or hptuners

Radix in 05 was 5K installed for 100+ added HP. A Corsa exhaust and AIRAID cool air intake are the only other mods. Stock was 267 HP. My dyno chart is in my sig.
