Silver Dog: So the '04 has one but it's hard to get to? I know the part is out there...called AZ and O'Reilly and saw it at Wal Mart.

00Silv4.8: The 2000s have them in the passenger kick panel area,I believe. The '09...don't know.

99-04 Trucks and suvs have them. They are not hard to replace at all! You do not have to remove the dash as stated earlier! Follow instructions given in post #2 and it should only take about 5-10 minutes. I can do it in 2!

Edit:some 04's do not have a cabin filter.

If equipped, remove the Instrument Panel (I/P) sound insulator. (2 7MM Screws, fancy name for the black plastic cover)
Remove the filter access door screw. (5.5mm screw)
Remove the filter access door (1) from the HVAC module.
Remove the passenger compartment air filter (2). (there are 2 filters be sure to remove both)

You don't have to pull the dash out.

Watch this (skip ahead to 0:50).

Sorry, I misspoke... I meant before I remove the Instrument Panel sound insulator... "dash" was just easier to type.

Call the dealer with your vin and ask. Or just remove the 2 screws and look. 03 will have them its 04 GM couldn't make up there mind. Also some 04's have fuel filters and some do not.
