Default Can someone help diagnose A/C problem?

Hey Guys,

The A/C in my 00' Silverado decided to take a dump today and is now blowing out Hot air - not warm. Not "kind of cool." But HOT....

I went to AutoZone and bought a recharge kit and the level showed the coolant level being full. I didn't spot any leaks, so I'm assuming I'm not losing pressure.

When the A/C is turned on, I can hear the clutch trying to engage but it won't stay on for more than 1 second. It'll turn on and off once every 10 seconds or so. I'm thinking it might be a relay or a bad clutch, but I'm not sure.

I'm not too familiar with A/C systems, so I'm hoping someone can helpe me out.

Thanks,
Vince

Yep, sounds like a bad pressure switch if the refrigerant is full

Just throwing this out there, it could be that your cooling fan clutch has taken a dump and is not drawing sufficient airflow across the condenser. That would cause a high head pressure issue on the compressor and cause it to kick off, (i'm not sure if our trucks have a high head pressure sensor or not.) This would also have the side affect of not pulling enough heat out of the refrigerant. , hope this helps out.

Turns out it was the pressure sensor. Blows colder than it did before.

Thanks for the tip.
