chasing MPG's with 6.ol and 24's... 3.42/3.73/4.10? mods? cam? *what can be done*
do ya'll think the 3.42 gears are hurting or helping the fuel mileage?
i get around:
14.3mpg @70mph
13.4mpg @75mph
11.1mpg around town
i am averaging 12.5mpg
i have a set of 3.73's i could get installed if it would help out...or buy 4.10's
i'm just wondering because of it being a crew cab and with 24x10 wheels and 32.5" tires if the 3.42's are makin the truck lug alittle... i am at around 1680ish@70mph and 1800ish@75mph and 1940ish@80mph
this is a 2wd truck with low pro's just letting everyone know... its not a 4x4 with 33" mud tires...lol
i already have the 3.73's so thats why i am askin if the 3.73 or 3.42 are better for me...or do i need to buy 4.10
mods are:
6.oL
pacesetter lt's
pacesetter ORY
K&N with modded air box
05 electric fans
RWTD tune
help me out with some thoughts what can i do (NOT REMOVING WHEELS) to help get the millage up...
STOCK FOR STOCK.... what gets better MPG 3.42's or 3.73's or 4.10's???
here is a pick of the truck

you are prolly getting the same but the taller tires revs arent reflecting on your mpg numbers
3.73s wont get you any where imo, go 4.10
edit: sorry, with a 6.0 you should be glad
a tune can be both performance and mpg
by tuning wot you can get what you want and with normal driving you could achive great numbers for your setup
shot a messege to black bear,Justin might help you the best

There's a reason GM only used 3.42s with the 4-speed auto for a couple of years. The gas mileage was worse because they cause the engine to lug and you have to use excessive gas pedal input versus a 3.73 or 4.10. Your 6.0 should help on that situation.
Your mileage already isn't bad, considering. You say you won't ditch the wheels but that's the fastest way to gain mileage - dump the heavy-a$$ed wheels. Other than that, as already stated, get a tune for mileage at normal cruise rpms.

I'm getting 15-16 going 80-85 on the freeway
it's a 3/4 ton, crew cab, 4wd
33" MT Toyos, on heavy 16" wheels
Stock LQ4, L92 heads/intake
SD tune (speed density)
224/230 .581 .591 -110
1-7/8 LTs
05 fans
90mm Tb - 42lb injectors
complete stock exhaust (cats and muff)
Old setup was getting 10-12 going 80-85
stock 317s,
TB SS intake, 87 TB
complete stock exhaust (manifolds, cats, muff)
MAF tune
same cam,
same tire/wheel setup
A dialed in tune can make all the difference in the world
