cluster not working properly?
#22
well i have a cluster of an ss and it kept the miles of the cluster.. so my stock one is at home and everytime i put it on it shows my original miles.. so incase i want to sell my truck i can just put my original cluster and they will think its at 36.000... hahaha.. so i hope that answers ur question.. and about the cluster.. search it online... their is a couple write ups on how to fix it on ur own.. i spend like 45 to fix the ss one i have.. put all new engines and new leds... it took like an hr..

The IPC, instrument panel cluster stores the Mileage. It is not "stored" any where else in a full size truck.
The BCM will "keep record" of the current mileage.
Swap in a new cluster? With LOWER mileage?!?!? Guess what.
The BCM UPDATES itself from whats stored in the cluster. Yeah. Got 128K? The BCM sees 128K.
Plug in a cluster with 52K? Fire it up. Drive around. Oh look, Hi. The BCM now reads....
52K
Mileage in the Colorado and Canyon are stored in the BCM...
