OK so we were just on different pages agreeing with each other. So the MAFS in 07-08, the tube, just takes up where the molded part is on the 09-11? I think this is right... If so, and they are exact enough to use the same MIT kit, what the hell was GM's thought process?

I'll let you know how it fits next week.

It took 20-25 minutes, I could do another one in 10 minutes. A couple of tips for the next guy.
The instructions say to disconnect the breather tube from the valve cover. They don't tell you that there is a plastic clip that has to be released with a small screwdriver.
When the instructions say disconnect the radiator hose from the clip, don't. Just push the clip down out of the factory intake.
It's almost too short for for an '11. I don't know if the '07-'08' MAFs take a little more space than the later models with the molded in MAF or if they expect you to buy a (useless) TB spacer but it's a pain to get both ends completely seated. It is possible, it just take a bit of working around to get both the MAF end and the TB end all the way down and clamped. An extra pair of hands would have helped.
Oh, one more thing, take your time when screwing the vent hose adapter into the MIT. The threads in the MIT are cast into it and not cleaned. It'll go but be careful with it. You would think that they would spend 15 seconds hand screwing a tap into it to clean uo the threads but they don't.

Glad to hear it all worked out for ya KY_BOB, for some reason the site has been getting rid of my sub updates within hours of the new posts so I didn't see your recent posts to let you know what's up with the install. I ran into the exact same issues and took longer for the exact same reasons. How do you like it? Did you get the oiled filter or the dry filter? Does your sticker for the airbox say something about when to oil the filter? I got the dry filter but the airbox sticker that came in the filter box had oiling instructions on it that I crossed out with a pen.

I like it so far. I can't say that I can feel it in the seat of my pants but it has to be an improvement over that monstrosity that came from GM. It does add a bit of sound but only when I'm on it hard and that's fine with me.
I got the dry filter also. I don't think that the sticker mentions oiling it, unless it's in the fine print. I'll have to look. I just stuck it on the airbox because it said "Do not discard". I really didn't pay much attention to it. I'll look at it and let you know.
