Default convincing my father

I don't know how I can convince my father to let me mod my truck. I don't want to do anything major like a blower or engine swap, just smaller things like a cam or new heads. Any ideas on how to persuade him to let me continue modding my truck?

Who's paying for the mods?
Who paid for the truck?

Seems you have some mods done on the truck already. Are you just having trouble getting him to let you perform engine modifications, specifically?

I was sorta in the same boat, my parents bought the truck and would prefer me to pay it off rather than spend money on it. anyways engine stuff they never noticed cause i had everything shipped elsewhere. exhaust was a hard one but i pushed it over by telling them my corsa only cost $350(ya right) and my stereo system i lied and said it cost $300 with my discounts(hah more like $900 with discount). as much as i hate lying, its the only way to help my addiction, and atleast my addiction isnt drugs.

I just did stuff that my dad liked. He liked the Denali gauges and bezel, exhaust, cleaning up the body a bit, grills. Other stuff like engine mods is on the DL.

Like said above lie about the amount of the mod. I used to have that problem when I was living with my mom, then I moved out and could do whatever I want to it. Now I with my dad but he used to have a bunch of muscle cars so he helps me do **** to it. From one extreme to the other.

I always use the better gas mileage thing but my parent's don't usually believe me. Still not sure how I got by with the cutouts I just bought. I found out that they eventually get to the point where they just shake their heads at me, but that takes a while. So I guess the better gas mileage thing is all I can come up with.

That's exactly what i tell my parents, and as far as modding goes, my dad started out by saying "NO...your not gonna do that" and then i sat him in his place and told him i'm paying for it, it's my truck, my money, i'll do what i want. He hasn't said anything since, just wonders when i'm gonna put the locker in so i'll quit leaving one tire marks in front of the house.

I pay for all the mods. My dad paid for the truck. Although, he doesn't consider it as his. He doesn't mind when I do smaller projects with the truck, but he doesn't want me doing things that can affect the reliability of the truck.

Thats the same thing my wife does. Shake her head and bitch.

As far as convincing your pops, good luck. I like doing the stuff, so my kids will always have a hand, but my wife just doesn't understand, so its the same as your dad kind of. I just tell her its my hobby, she flies, I drive and I like to go fast. I think the Z is pretty much done since I blew it up. Now everything has to be towards making it "quieter" *wink wink* I told her a Radix would really quiet it down. As well as LT's and completely re-doing the exhaust. Now just waiting on Pasesetter to make the LT's fit 4x4's and I'll just add another Magnaflow in line with the one I have now Too bad I can't afford the Radix. And the tune will keep it from trying to die when I pull in the driveway, so I need HPtuners to get the most out of it right?

ksame boat here...sorta. I payed for the truck and everything on it but it is in pops name for insurance reasons. Everything I have done now he dosent have a problem with. He just dosent want me to mess wiht the relyability of the truck. I tried telling him I need a Posi for the snow, but he dident buy it. I dont thing he has a problem with getting a pair of LT's once I get the $$$ as long as it passes inspection. When I eventually get a transgo and a tune its gonna be done without his knowing. I think he might notice if I get a cam though
