Default Could I run with a Hemi?

I am new, and I was wondering something? I have a 2000 RC shortbed Silverado with the 5.3. Since I have bought it I have added a custom Borla 3 inch in, dual 2 1/4 out exhaust, the almighty K&N airfilter and a Superchips Tri tune micro max tuner. There is a kid that lives in the same area were his dad bought him a RC shortbed Dodge, with a Hemi, that has a exhaust. I have seen the kid in it and he thinks that his truck is pretty hot stuff. Could I run with him?

I have yet to see one run, but I have the same problem with a kid where I live. pullinot a car wash and he thinks he's real hot. he does have exhasut lowered and 20-22(not sure) he pulled out of their and floored and and yelled at me. I had soap all over the truck or I would have taken him. atleast tried. it should be close.

I raced a RCSB Hemi with my truck, I beat by about 2 1/2 truck lengths up to about 90. I personally think they over-rated.

i saw one run at red river raceway about 3 weeks ago, his best time was a 15.20. it was a regular cab with the bumper & tailgate removed, & a gibson extreme truck exhast system. it sounded remarkable, however the e.t. was very dissapointed. one of the guys i was with has a 04 c1500 extended cab with 3.73, k&n filter (stock airbox) & a hypertech & ran a 15.32. I would run him & hand him his *** on a platter!

Sure you could but there are alot of factors! Your mods, his mods, who's the better driver, wheel size (Ram's w/ 17's are quicker than ones w/ 20's), etc... This is my experience with both trucks since I owned a Silverado and now own a Ram (see sig.). Stock for stock, my Ram would beat my old Silverado, no question. I do 0-60 runs and when the Silverado was dead stock, it did 0-60 in about 7.3 seconds, the Ram did it in 6.7 seconds. This is a 2000 Silverado vs a 2004 Ram, the 04 Silverados are quicker so this might not be the case 04 vs 04. Now that I've put exhaust and intake on my Ram, my best 0-60 is 6.23 seconds on an empty tank of gas, is about 6.4-6.5 after I fill up. After my Silverado had the exhaust and intake put on, it did 0-60 in about 7.0 flat. With the factory 20's my Ram isn't real quick off the line but neither was my Silverado, I was always a little diappointed with it's low end. When the Silverado was stock, it couldn't spin the tires at all, not even if I stood on the brake. My Ram can barely spin it's 20's from a dead stop punch but can smoke them if I stand on the brake first, I mean melt them if I wanted to. I would say both trucks are better in a race from a rolling start so neither one has the advantge there. Since you have a prgrammer to carry each gear longer, your shift points will be about the same. I think it will be a close race so go for it. Anyway, you'll never know until you try.

With your mods I would say that You could take him. Stock vs. stock those two vehicles are very close anyway. Run him

The best I've seen a RC Hemi with mods run around here is 14.97@90. My RC 04 5.3 GMC ran 14.97@91 bone stock with 500 miles on it. With your mods you should take him no problem.
